Symptoms of Migraine?

The main and most commonly experienced symptoms of migraine are:

  • A headache sometimes affecting both half's of the head other times affecting only one half
  • Visual disturbances including pulsating lights and a general loss of clarity
  • Nausea and the feeling of needing to vomit
  • Lethargy with some sufferers reporting that the only way they can cope with the symptoms is to lie down in darkened room until the episode passes
  • An aversion to food

More often than not there are some common triggers that induce episodes of migraine. Some of the more common ones include:

  • Certain foods and drinks, such as caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, tea, or certain types of citrus fruits
  • Head injury or neck injury including things like tooth ache, sinus pain, jaw pain
  • Hormonal changes in women, especially during menstruation. Pregnancy can sometime trigger migraines as can taking oral contraceptives
  • Stress or anxiety is known to be a big trigger for migraines
  • Poor sleep habits including both lying in or lack of sleep
  • Weather changes or changes in the atmosphere
