Symptoms of Asthma?

The main and most commonly experienced symptoms of asthma are:

  • Severe coughing as a result of the increased sensitivity and irritability of the airways caused by the inflamed lining.
  • Wheezing as a result of air having to pass through very narrow airways causing a high pitched whistling noise.
  • Shortness of breath as the body has to work harder than normal to keep the air flow moving through the lungs.

All of the above symptoms of asthma may be present or only one or two of them at any one time. There are also many minor symptoms that are associated with asthma, such as chest pains or tightness in the chest, but these symptoms are also commonly associated with other ailments.
