What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a distressing feeling of uneasiness, apprehension or dread, Sometimes you might be anxious in anticipating a real situation, such as an upcoming public speaking engagement, but other times feelings of anxiety seem unfounded, or their source is a perceived threat than an actual one. Sometimes anxiety occurs after a situation that causes stress, such as a traumatic event, such as a death in the family. Other times, a situation is not immediately apparent; anxiety, panic, fear, or dread can seem to develop spontaneously. A degree of mild anxiety is part of most people's experience, and seems to be integrated into the human personality. Indeed unwelcome and uncomfortable emotions are expected experiences in our everyday lives. However when you start to dwell on these fears, it can start taking over your life, and action needs to be taken. Anxious people are often in a state of suspense, waiting for something, they know not what. There is still much to be learned about anxiety disorders. They often co-occur, and are also commonly seen with other disorders such as depression, substance abuse or eating disorders. Anxiety may be a response to a traumatic event, or may also have its roots in emotional trauma. What are the symptoms of Anxiety? Can't find what you're looking for? Try a search below!
